Despite Microsoft’s new upgrade of Vista from XP, many of the same problems are happening to the Vista Windows registry. Vista blue screens, fatal errors, sluggishness, and other problems are plaguing Vista computers everywhere. Many people require a registry cleaner for Vista. I have actually discovered what I believe to be the best Vista registry cleaner on the market. These are among the things it can do for you:
• Fixes an incredible amount of errors in your Vista registry. Also has the intuition to only repair corrupted files while leaving benign ones in place. The software creates a backup of your Windows Vista registry in case anything goes wrong, but I have found that to rarely happen.
• Has an optimization feature to speed up Vista considerably. The feature takes a snapshot of your system and offers solutions to clear up congested and troubled areas to run more efficiently. You will be quite surprised at how fast your computer can run when it is fully optimized. This is a feature anyone should look for when choosing a registry cleaner for Vista.
• Has automated scan and repair feature to fix all errors before they become problems. No one likes to be working on something important when the dreaded Windows Vista blue screen of death comes knocking. You can take the proactive approach and use software that will clean up registry errors automatically.
If you want to clean Vista registry the easy way I can’t think of a better solution. Not only will the program fix all errors, but it will also make your computer run faster and more efficient. Try for yourself the program that I consider the best registry cleaner for Vista. Scan your computer for free, you have nothing to lose.

Most software vendors periodically release new versions of their products. Among these releases, operating systems like Microsoft Windows are the most popular as they have a wide array of users across the world. The next version (Windows 7: Project name Vienna) is already going through testing by professionals and users post the overall operating system creation.
Such new versions come with several new features, improved functions, look and feel. The users generally become eager to take benefit of these added features as quickly as possible. So, they opt for an operating system upgrade other than a fresh reinstall. The best example will be an upgrade from the all time favorite MS Windows XP to MS Windows Vista, which has the maximum market share in the OEM PC segment.
Due to the advanced features like better security and hardware support several computer users like to upgrade their existing Windows XP systems to Vista. It also comes in various versions to cover the user segments of Computer Science Professionals, Gamers, Business & Enterprise Users, different Home Users and End Users more.
Such upgrade documentation and even screens suggest to backup data, though to avoid effort and time we often skip that. So, if the upgrade process completes successfully, it means that every data file is safe and will be there in the respective locations like ‘My Documents’ files will now be found under ‘Documents’. But, in case of operating system issues like system files altered by programs, malicious software like virus, incompatible driver versions, highly fragmented hard drive partitions etc. the upgrade process may fail.
During the upgrade we might encounter one or more of the underwritten errors:
? You can not choose hard drive partition for upgrade
? You can not set the hard drive partition size
? You come across a generic Windows Vista upgrade error message :
”Windows is unable to find a system volume that meets its criteria for installation”
After such an error, the upgrade process fails and the system becomes unstable or encounters a no boot situation.
You may encounter this behavior of Windows due to any of these causes:
? Vista is not compatible with mass storage driver
? The hard drive is formatted as a dynamic disk
? The file system of your Windows hard drive is damaged
? You are trying to install Vista on a hard drive partition which is formatted with FAT file system. FAT is incompatible with Vista.
No matter what the cause of this problem is, the final result would be incomplete upgrade operation. It would render the system inaccessible and we need to fix it.
Resolution
If the problem is due to the incompatible mass storage drivers, update them. In case if the problem is due to file system corruption or incompatibility of file system, you need to format your hard drive and perform clean installation of Windows Vista.
Though, it may fix all the issues, but also has a downside. Formatting wipes all the stored data from hard drive and you have to carry out partition recovery to overcome this problem.
Stellar Information Systems, the masters of data recovery from 1993 offers various data recovery software for every data recovery need as well as proactive backup. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery offers complete recovery in the above scenario. Phoenix Partition Recovery Software is compatible with MS Windows Vista, XP, Server 2003 and 2000. It supports partition recovery from both FAT and NTFS based Windows hard drives.

Although Microsoft has made a point of including strong game and multimedia support with all of its post-Windows 3.1 operating systems through the ever-evolving DirectX multimedia libraries, the company didn’t fully and completely embrace the idea of full home multimedia until it released the Windows XP–based Windows Media Center Edition in 2003. And now, with Windows Vista,
Microsoft is going after virtually every possible computer user in the world, from people in emerging markets (for example, third-world nations) to spoiled consumers, from timid technophobes to business power users. And, most important, Microsoft has now turned its all-seeing eye to dedicated gamers and multimedia enthusiasts.
The company released a number of different Windows Vista editions, each aimed at a different market segment. Windows Vista Starter, which is only available in emerging markets, is a barebones operating system for the simplest computers. Vista Home Basic is a notch above Starter, intended for homes with a single computer and users who don’t need a bevy of fancy features— the kind of people who just want to check their e-mail and do some Web surfing and leave well
enough alone. Home Premium is a more full-bodied consumer edition, with a stronger focus on multimedia and usability. It’s one of several editions to feature the new desktop interface, Aero. A pair of Vista products aimed at various-sized companies includes the Business and Enterprise editions, with features that cater to networked businesspeople.
Then there’s Ultimate. Windows Vista Ultimate is the edition for the true enthusiast, the person who spends hundreds of dollars on single upgrades just to run the latest games. Ultimate edition caters to people who can’t imagine viewing home video without editing it through a PC first. This edition is the one for people who consider the PC not an appliance or a convenience or a luxury, but an essential cornerstone of existence, right up there with food, clothing, and shelter.

So, what’s new in Windows Vista? A better question might be, “What’s not new in this startling new operating system?” From the first glance, you can see that Windows Vista is obviously quite different from Windows XP. The interface is similar, but prettier. Windows Explorer is familiar, but so much more functional. Things are in different places. The browser is brand new. Everything is better organized. What’s up with the icons giving you a glimpse into the files they represent? Even the old, standard games that haven’t changed a bit since Windows 3.1 look improved.
There’s more. Behind the scenes, Windows Vista is a vastly improved operating system. It’s more secure. It’s less prone to critical failures and file corruption. It does things better, faster, more efficiently. Sometimes, it’s as if your computer can read your mind.
The Windows Vista user interface represents a sweeping change from anything you may have ever seen before. This change is the most significant one in the Windows user experience since Microsoft went from Windows 3.x to Windows 95. The graphic user interface (GUI) is built upon the principles of the Windows GUI from Windows 95 to XP, but it’s significantly different: The Start Menu has been overhauled; windows have nifty, transparent borders; and everything looks
fresh and new. The look falls under Windows Aero, the new desktop interface, but the enhancements don’t stop with visuals—the shell and search features are massively enhanced, and the new Sidebar is a handy addition.

One of the most frequent asked question about Windows is “Why and How” to speed up the Internet connection. What I am going to show you is applicable to Windows Vista and XP.
Step #1 - Optimize Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) and TCP Receive Windows (RWIN) with SpeedGuide TCP Optimizer
TCP Optimizer is free, and you can download it at SpeedGuide web site, just types “SG TCP Optimizer” into Google or any major search engine, you should be able to find it. It will help you to detect and configure the proper registry settings for your TCP network connection, automatic set the proper value for MTU and RWIN into registry. Remember to restart Windows after this setting.
Step #2 - Turn off TCP Auto tuning
In order for previous settings to activate, you need to turn off TCP auto tuning in Vista:
i) Press Windows key and type ” cmd. exe”, then CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to run as Administrator. In the command Window, type ” netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disable”, then enter.
ii) If you want to reactivate auto tuning, type ” netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal”.
If you find your Internet connection drop or slower after turning off TCP auto tuning, just reactivate it again.
Step #3 - Use OpenDNS
Your ISP DNS server will affect your Internet connection response, you can try a better and faster DNS server, and OPENDNS is a fast and free DNS server. Unfortunately, some country’s connection is too slow to use this service.
Step# 4 - Use Google Web Accelerator (GWA)
Every major web browser will support proxy server, this technology extends by Google web accelerator will establish a tunneling connection between your low bandwidth computer to Google high bandwidth server, and Google will compress the data before sending it over to your web browser, so overall performance increased!
The formula is simple: Google web accelerator downloads the destination page faster with high speed connection, then compressed it with the super fast server processing power before sending it over to your computer, and your low bandwidth connection will be faster because smaller data is sending across, then Google web accelerator on your computer will unpack and send the data to web browser.
Step #5 - Use faster web browser
Try to install a faster web browser from Mozilla Firefox or Apple Safari, they use less resources and generally far more faster than Internet Explorer. You ought to keep Internet Explorer for special web sites, but you can enjoy a faster browsing speed with Firefox and Safari.
This concludes your Windows Internet connection speed problems, if this 5 steps does not help, you need to re-install Windows or contact your ISP!

Windows Vista, by default, chooses the best display settings for your computer which includes screen resolution, refresh rate, and color, based on your monitor. The setting for every computer differs depending on the kind of monitor that is used– CRT or LCD. Screen resolution is the setting that determines how much information is displayed on the screen that is measured horizontally and vertically in pixels. Refresh rate is the frequency at which the screen is redrawn. These can be adjusted according to your preference.
The process to follow in changing Windows Vista’s display settings can be done in a few seconds. All you need to do is right-click on a vacant area on the Desktop and select “Personalize” from the menu that pops up. The Personalization box will appear. Click on “Display Settings” which is located at the bottom part (it is the seventh item from the top). The Display Settings dialog box will appear. There you can set the resolution and colors that would best fit your set up. You can drag the resolution slider to the right for higher resolutions and drag left to lower the resolution. You can also click on the “Advanced” button to get to more advanced settings for color management and properties of your adapter and monitor. But I advice not to tamper with what is in the Advanced button because it is for expert technicians. The default settings in the “Advanced” button are usually the best settings and the safest. The display settings of XP and Vista are almost the same so if you are familiar with that of XP you will not be lost in the display settings of Vista.
You can actually fine tune the display and the whole look of Vista by tweaking everything that is in the Personalization box. To adjust window color and appearance simply click on the radio button under the color. Check or uncheck on the “Enable transparency” checkbox if you want the window bar to be transparent. By clicking on the slider and dragging it to the left or to the right as how you want the settings to be, You can adjust the color intensity. By clicking on “Show Color Mixer” and adjusting the scales as desired, you can make adjustments on the hue, brightness, and saturation of the colors.
You can also change desktop background if you click “Desktop Background” and select the image you would like to use. If you want an image that is in one of the folders in your computer, just click on the Browse button and locate the folder that contains it and select the image and click “Open”. The Desktop background will then be changed to that image.
You may also set the Screensaver properties by clicking on “Screensaver”. By clicking on the drop down list you will be able to choose the screen saver to use. You can also see the adjustment box for the time it will take to activate the screensaver when the computer is idle. By clicking on the up or down arrow buttons, you can add or subtract to the number of minutes before screensaver launches.

You can share a folder with advanced permissions. You use these permissions to decide who has access to the folder and what those users can do with the folder. You can also apply advanced permissions to entire security groups rather than individual users. For example, if you apply permissions to the Administrators group, those permissions automatically apply to each member of that group.
Before continuing, make sure you have a user account set up for each person who will access the share. Follow these steps to share a folder with advanced permissions:
1. Select Start, and then click your username to open your user profile folder.
2. Click the folder you want to share. If you want to share a subfolder or file, instead, open its folder and then click the subfolder or file.
3. Click the Share button in the task pane. Windows Vista displays the object’s Properties sheet with the Sharing tab selected.
4. Click Advanced Sharing. The User Account Control dialog box appears.
5. Enter your UAC credentials to continue. The Advanced Sharing dialog box appears.
6. Activate the Share This Folder check box.
7. By default, Vista uses the folder name as the share name. If you prefer to use a different name, edit the Share Name text box.
8. In a small network, it’s unlikely you’ll need to restrict the number of users who can access this resource, so you’re probably safe to leave the Limit the Number of Simultaneous Users To spin box value at 10.
9. Click Permissions to display the Permissions for Share dialog box, where Share is the share name you specified in step 7.
10. Select the Everyone group in the Group or User Names list, and then click Remove.

The WaveRT port driver for Windows has a new interface that allows Windows Vista audio streaming technology. The WaveRT driver supports audio devices that can connect to a system bus, and can play back and or record wave data.
Windows Vista picks up where XP left off. Vista has the PortCls system driver, which provides a WaveRT port driver that gives the user real time performance, but instead uses a modified and simplified cyclic buffer for rendering or capturing audio stream. The WaveRT port driver also provides the generic system functionality for kernel streaming filter that represents the audio device like those in previous Windows versions such as Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP.
The miniports in Windows Vista now use the WaveRT port driver as the preferred wave port driver. It still supports WaveCyclic and WavePci miniport drivers.
By reducing the latency of audio streams, the WaveRT port driver uses real time scheduling support to deliver clear and quality sound. Low latency isochronous transfer modes of PCI Express devices are more hardware innovations that Vista brings along to complement the additional real time scheduling
Considering these advancements, the audio device should be able to play and or capture input data with little or no involvement from the driver software. The hardware for the audio device should also not need any assistance from the driver from the time run state to the exit state. If all is correct, the result is a low latency audio that takes up few host CPU cycles and timing glitches are non existent.
The WaveRT port driver uses a global audio engine. With the global audio engine, the driver is able to mix the playback streams from the currently running audio applications. It is also able to write the mixed stream into the cyclic buffer. After mixed, the device takes the stream from the buffer and plays it.
